POSITION: Summer College Intern (2)
LOCATION: Red Cliff Community Health Center
WAGE: $17.00 per hour
SUPERVISOR: Community Health Department Supervisor
THIS IS A SUMMER INTERNSHIP BEING OFFERED BY THE RED CLIFF HEALTH DIVISION. SOME PORTION OF THE SUMMER WILL INVOLVE WORKING WITH OTHER PROGRAMS AS WELL. INTERNSHIP IS EXPECTED TO BE JUNE – AUGUST, TYPICALLY WORKING FOUR (4) 7-hr DAYS PER WEEK.
JOB SUMMARY: Assist with various Red Cliff Health Division projects. The goal of this internship is to provide exposure to a wide variety of health activities so the student may gain a better understanding of rural, Tribal community healthcare.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Participate as a project team member focused on youth wellness.

Collaborate with Boys & Girls Club to better understand the needs of youth in the Red Cliff community.

Participate in Community Health activities as needed, including and not limited to collecting Community Health Assessment data, and assisting with the execution of our Community Health Improvement Plan.

Maintain strict confidentiality and safeguard the privacy of patients in common areas of the clinic.

Present a professional, caring image for the Health Center and its programs.

Maintain a cooperative relationship with other Health Center staff and employees.

Demonstrate tact, courtesy, and respect in communication and interaction with Health Center patients, visitors, and staff and with outside agencies and programs.

Promote a working environment noted for effective cooperation and collaboration between programs, services, and co-workers.

Advance job knowledge and skills through continuing education efforts with the approval of Health Center Administration.

Attend staff and other meetings, in-services, and other events as directed by supervisor.

Maintain a clean and safe physical environment. Alert administration and/or Health Center staff to problems and difficulties, as circumstances may warrant.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
PERSONAL CONTACTS: Considerable daily contact will be made with the general public, tribal leadership, Program Directors and staff, consultant(s), and the Tribal Community.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The duties assigned to this position involve standing for periods of time, bending, stooping, lifting, and carrying. Items may be placed in overhead storage or shelving.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Red Cliff Community Health Center; office and clinic settings. Exposure to hazards of the health care industry. All Tribal Buildings are smoke free.
