Alabama A&M University a Historically Black University (HBCU) is dedicated to the application of knowledge and excellence in teaching, research, and service, which is in response to the needs of a diverse student population and the social and economic needs of our community. As a center of excellence, the University is dedicated to providing a student-centered educational and service environment for the emergence of scholars, scientists, leaders, and critical thinkers who are equipped to excel through a diverse and competitive society. The VISTA project aligns with education, healthy futures, and economic opportunity focus area(s). Our goals are to: 1. Increase awareness of poverty, obesity and healthy eating in our community 2. Increase conversations in the community about food insecurity, poverty, and obesity, and 3. decrease the need for food and healthy food options
