We are seeking a motivated Structural - Engineering Intern (EI) to join our dynamic team. This paid internship offers hands-on experience in civil and geotechnical engineering projects, system design, drafting, and project management. As an intern, you will support senior engineers in delivering innovative solutions while developing your technical skills and understanding of the engineering industry. Responsibilities:
Engineer Intern (EI):
Technical Design & Analysis
1. Perform structural engineering analyses and designs for commercial and residential projects under the direct supervision and PE seal of a licensed engineer.
2. Prepare structural calculations, reports, construction drawings, and specifications in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
3. Assist in the preparation of cost estimates, project scopes, and technical proposals.
Field Work & Construction Administration
4. Conduct site visits and field observations to support construction administration, special inspections, and quality assurance.
Quality, Compliance & Collaboration
5. Apply sound engineering judgment on routine design tasks while seeking guidance from senior staff on complex or non-routine issues.
6. Ensure conformance to applicable engineering codes and standards as well as company policies and procedures.
7. Collaborate effectively with project teams, clients, architects, and contractors under general supervision.
8. Maintain accurate project records and document engineering decisions in accordance with RMG standards.
Professional Development
9. Actively pursue and document experience in compliance with state PE licensure requirements.
10. Perform other related duties as needed or required.
Engineer Intern (EI):
1. Minimum education: Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited
program.
2. Active Engineer-in-Training (EIT) / Engineer Intern (EI) certification (FE exam passed); intent to pursue PE licensure at first eligibility required.
3. Minimum experience: 0–4 years in structural engineering or a related engineering discipline.
4. Working knowledge of structural engineering principles and building codes (IBC, ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC, NDS).
5. Proficiency or developing proficiency in structural analysis and design software (e.g., RISA, equivalent).
6. Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit for construction drawing production.
7. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
8. Ability to maintain quality standards and exercise developing engineering judgment on all projects.
9. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; capable of representing the Company in technical and client-facing settings.
10. Ability to periodically travel to project sites and the Company within the state of Colorado.
11. Ability to operate a motor vehicle and maintain a valid driver's license free of restrictions that would interfere with employment.
12. Physical Abilities include:
a. Must be able to routinely lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
b. Physical coordination to walk through job sites, including climbing ladders and working at heights.
c. Compliance with site safety requirements
d. Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
e. Dexterity of hands and fingers sufficient to perform keyboard activity.
f. Standard 40-hour work week, with additional hours as business needs dictate.
Pay: $65,500.00 - $80,000.00 per year
