Position Description:
The Design Engineer plays a critical role in the development and continuous improvement of Garmat USA spray booths. This includes 3D modeling, 2D drafting, documentation creation, and bill of materials (BOM) management. The role supports cross-functional collaboration with operations, supply chain, and technical service teams to ensure product quality, manufacturability, and ease of assembly.
General shifts are Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, occasionally overtime is required.
Job functions
In order to perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to execute each essential duty satisfactorily.
Included, but not limited to:
- Creates drawings in compliance with GARMAT standards that satisfy order requirements.
- Quote/Concept drawings
- Permit drawings
- Layout drawings
- Responsible for the engineering and configuration of solutions that satisfy the customer order requirements for all orders that fall within the Standard and Modified categories.
- Develops and / or updates 3D models, 2D Prints, BOMs and installation manuals for all products.
- Responsible for the quality of the 3D models and 2D engineering prints.
- Collaborates with operations to ensure systems are built per customer requirements and standardized assembly processes.
- Maintains high quality standards for engineering documentation and drawings.
- Updates documentation promptly when component changes occur.
- Supports supply chain in sourcing new components.
- Trains operations staff on system assembly and testing procedures.
- Identifies and implement product and process improvements to enhance build efficiency and maintainability.
- Evaluates new production methods to reduce labor content.
- Provides technical support for escalated service calls from distributors.
- Performs engineering computations, including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry, rapidly and accurately.
- Reads and interprets Mechanical single part, assembly and manufacturing drawings in both metric and imperial systems.
- Ensures adherence to QC procedures and product standards.
- Applies critical thinking to resolve design challenges and improve processes.
- Acts with timely and well executed problem resolution.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, Subject Matter Expertise
- BSEE, BSEM or BSME degree in a technical related field required or 2 years of technical design/engineering work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Qualifications:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in 2D/3D CAD, designing parts and drafting engineering prints for manufacturing and installation (AutoCAD & Inventor preferred).
- Knowledge of Engineering and Manufacturing principles.
- Knowledge of Industrial and Mechanical engineering terminology and techniques.
- Knowledge of Bill of Materials management (creation, sustainability)
- Ability to visualize 2D into 3D and translate into drawing.
- Works methodically and is highly organized and detail oriented.
- Manages time efficiently. Ability to manage multiple priorities without missing deadlines.
- Experienced with Adobe, Microsoft Excel, and Word.
- Leads through example.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Capable of functioning well in a fast-paced and at times stressful environment.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
