Education & Experience Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a Materials Science (or related technical field) or equivalent demonstrated skills and abilities.
• Minimum of three years’ experience in a testing laboratory environment.
• Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
• Working knowledge of industry standards, customer specifications, and FWM requirements for materials and test methods.

Job Responsibilities

• Detailed knowledge of ISO 17025, the FWM-MTL Quality Manual, Technical Procedures, and Work Instructions.
• Ensure compliance to ISO 17025 by maintaining controlled documents, confirming that all equipment is operational and personnel are proficient.
• Oversee department finances and budgets.
• Perform periodic productivity analyses. Ensure the accuracy and timely completion of all requested materials.
• Develop and refine test methods for process/performance improvement and added capabilities.
• Train laboratory personnel on testing methods, laboratory processes, data collection, and safety procedures.
• Review and approve laboratory reports.
• Maintain overall cleanliness and organization in the lab.
• Perform other duties as requested by management.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

• Fast-paced production environment.
• May work with and around hazardous chemicals.
• Must be able to access all areas of operation, including second floors.
• Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
• Sitting and working at a computer for extended time periods.
