Field Surveyor (Chainman)

Builoff Surveying & Mapping, Inc, a leading provider of quality surveying, mapping, 3D modeling, and geospatial services, is seeking a motivated Field Surveyor (Chainman) to join our team. As a Field Surveyor, you will assist in various surveying activities, contributing to accurate measurements, data collection, and the overall success of our projects.

Responsibilities:

• Assist the surveying crew by holding level rod or distance meter reflector at designated points
• Participate in determining elevation and laying out stakes for map making, construction, land, and other surveys
• Record measurements, station numbers, and readings
• Mark points of measurement with elevation, station, or other identifying marks
• Measure distances between survey points using surveyors tapes or electronic distance measuring equipment
• Mark measuring points using various tools such as marking crayons, paint, stakes, or monuments
• Place and drive stakes into the ground at designated points, sometimes at specific elevations
• Clear brush and trees from the survey line using cutting tools
• Obtain data pertaining to angles, elevations, control points, and contours
• Compile accurate notes, sketches, and records of data obtained and work performed
• Direct the work of subordinate members of the survey crew
• Perform other duties related to survey work as directed by the CHIEF OF PARTY

Requirements:

• 2 year of experience in land surveying
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to work outdoors in California's varying weather conditions
• Familiarity with operating surveying equipment such as levels, Total Stations, electronic distance measuring equipment, etc.
• Familiarity with tools like 3D laser scanners, Global Positioning System, electronic data collectors, etc.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $29.00 - $32.00 per hour
