NM Pre-K Lead Teacher
The NM Pre-K Lead Teacher creates a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment that supports children's cognitive, social, emotional, and physical growth. This role is responsible for planning, implementing, and managing daily classroom activities while ensuring a high-quality early childhood education experience.
The Lead Teacher provides guidance and functional supervision to an Educational Assistant, fosters positive relationships with children and families, and addresses classroom concerns in a professional and timely manner. The position also ensures full compliance with all New Mexico PreK standards, licensing requirements, and program guidelines.
Minimum Qualifications (Required)
This position requires college coursework in accordance with New Mexico PreK Grant requirements.
Applicants must be currently enrolled in and actively pursuing a degree in Education or a closely related early childhood education field that meets New Mexico PreK Lead Teacher qualification requirements.

Responsibilities
- The NM Pre-K Lead Teacher provides a safe and developmentally appropriate educational environment where children can develop cognitive, social, emotional, and physical skills
- Responsible for the daily planning, lesson planning, management and supervision of the classroom and children
- Will lead and functionally supervise an Educational Assistant who works in the classroom alongside the lead
- Responsible for ensuring that all parents, children, and classroom staff concerns are appropriately addressed
- Responsible for facilitating a program in full compliance with all NM Pre-K standards and guidelines
- Ensures all curriculum, assessment and documentation for a NM Pre-K classroom are met by deadline
- Ensures that the physical, social, and emotional needs of the children are met daily
- Ensures all policies and procedures to keep the children healthy and safe are implemented
- Ensures that appearance, cleanliness, and safe environment of classroom are appropriately maintained
- Ensures compliance with licensing, Focus and NM State Pre-K
- Completes all NM Pre-K, Educational, licensing, Focus and classroom paperwork
- Constantly engages with children on the playground as an extension of the classroom
- Interacts with parents and maintains open communication to encourage family engagement
- Must be able to lift no less than 40 pounds to at least waist high on a consistent basis throughout the workday
- Accepts temporary work assignments in the event regularly scheduled personnel is not available
