The Occupational Therapist (OT) is a compassionate, dependable, and experienced licensed therapist who provides one-on-one occupational therapy services for a stroke recovery patient in a private home setting located in Harvey, LA (Woodmere). The position offers a flexible schedule coordinated around the client’s care plan and therapy needs. The Occupational Therapist is patient, attentive, and committed to helping individuals regain independence, improve functional abilities, and maximize their quality of life throughout the recovery process.

The Occupational Therapist will work closely with family members and other healthcare providers to evaluate, develop, and implement individualized treatment plans that improve upper extremity function, mobility, balance, coordination, and activities of daily living while ensuring a safe, supportive, and client-centered environment.

Qualifications

· Current Louisiana Occupational Therapist (OT) License in good standing.

· Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.

· Experience caring for stroke patients preferred.

· Home health or private-duty therapy experience preferred.

· Experience recommending adaptive equipment and home modifications preferred.

· CPR certification preferred.

· Reliable transportation.

· Dependable, patient, compassionate, and professional.

· Comfortable working in a family home.

· Comfortable working around pets (family dog).

Pay and Perks

· Private pay $115 an hour based on experience and qualifications.

Duties and ResponsibilitiesEvaluation & Treatment Planning

· Complete comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations.

· Develop individualized treatment plans based on the client’s needs and rehabilitation goals.

· Establish measurable short- and long-term functional goals.

· Reassess progress and modify treatment plans as appropriate.

Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)

· Improve independence with dressing, grooming, bathing, toileting, and feeding.

· Improve upper body strength, coordination, and fine motor skills.

· Increase functional independence with daily living tasks.

· Recommend adaptive techniques to improve safety and independence.

· Train clients in the use of adaptive equipment as appropriate.

Mobility & Functional Rehabilitation

· Improve sitting and standing balance.

· Improve functional mobility and endurance.

· Address upper extremity weakness following stroke.

· Perform therapeutic activities and therapist-directed exercises.

· Reinforce functional movement patterns to improve daily performance.

Home Safety & Caregiver Education

· Assess the home environment for safety concerns.

· Recommend adaptive equipment and home modifications.

· Educate caregivers on safe transfer techniques and positioning.

· Develop individualized home exercise programs.

· Provide education to maximize independence and reduce fall risk.

Documentation

· Maintain timely and accurate treatment documentation.

· Record measurable progress toward established goals.

· Document therapy interventions and recommendations.

· Communicate client progress with family members and healthcare providers.

· Ability to perform repetitive therapeutic activities throughout treatment sessions.
