I’ve been with Cook Systems for the past 90 days, and I can honestly say it’s been a great experience. The company culture is incredibly collaborative and supportive. From day one, I’ve been trusted with hands-on work that’s helped me grow my skills in software development, a field I might not have broken into without their FastTrack training program. They give you the time for self-development which is a huge plus.
The work environment is another standout. I work from home, and as long as my work is done, there’s no micromanaging about my online time. Work-life balance doesn’t get much better than that. My manager is super approachable, and our monthly check-ins make me feel valued and supported. They also have a childcare savings plan which lets me pay for my daughter’s preschool tax-free.
Cons
If I had to pick something, I’d say the benefits package could use a boost. It’s not the strongest compared to other companies (we rely on my wife’s work for most benefits), and the pay could be more competitive. That said, I totally get it, they invest a lot in training people like me, and I’m grateful for that opportunity for my first job as a developer. And hopefully it will improve as I build time in the company.
