Pros

You will meet some great people while working in direct care. The kids are a big reason for doing the job.

Cons

Leadership does not care about employees. The director does not care about being a leader or the programs, they just want to work you to the bone. There is no leadership or team.

Pros

Working at the Key Program is great because you get to work with families in need and be helpful and supportive while also working with a great team of professionals.

Cons

It is not a 9am-5pm job

Pros

-Good travel reimbursement rates -Recreational Activities were fun to experience with clients -Able to make positive connections with some coworkers

Cons

-Always understaffed or have you paired with an employee from an outside agency (whom cannot complete paperwork or assist with medication) so that is expected of the only Key Staff in shift, while also meeting client needs -Occasionally have to pay for recs out of pocket (they will reimburse you, but not until next paycheck) -Communication between caseworkers, clinicians, and supervisors is basically nonexistent, this is very frustrating for both clients and caseworkers because they are told one thing by one staff and it is never communicated to the rest of the team which in turn creates a variety of power struggles between clients and caseworkers -Caseworkers are expected to monitor clients while understaffed and are also expected to clean and pick up no matter the circumstances, and monitor phone calls with clients all at the same time which makes meeting the clients needs very difficult if following all policies and protocols in place, all while ensuring documentation is up to date for each individual client every 30 minutes -The expectations of the residential caseworker are to take on several roles in a high paced environment, you may be expected to cook dinner with limited food options, transport a client somewhere, and additionally provide medication to clients, and also at the end of the day be expected to clean the entire program if clients refuse to do their chores (which I do not deem appropriate) -If you ever want to leave on time this is not the job for you, expect to have to do sleep-ins at the program if you are "starred" (which is a few times a month) or expect to stay at least a minimum of 30-60 minutes past your shift on a regular basis, if there is a crisis you may also be expected to stay for longer or assist with transportations and supervision at another facility, such as a hospital setting if needed. -They also constantly are watching you on camera and will call you into the office over very minor instances and are not consistent when they hold staff accountable, if you choose to work here be mindful of who you talk to and what you talk about because it will spread like wildfire
