Where to begin....
1. Off the bat I felt something was off when they literally hired me right after the interview, filled out all the legal documents same day and had my ONE day of training the SAME DAY! I was not informed that the second day I would already be working on clients...
2. It is very chaotically run. In the very beginning I was being paid on time but then my paychecks were almost always late. Sometimes I would have to wait 2 weeks to get my paycheck and for some odd reason there was no direct deposit available. I even heard at one point one of the other estheticians waited almost an entire month to get paid until she threatened to quit. When I was originally hired I was told I would work at the West Hollywood location, that lasted for about a month until they scheduled me to go to Sherman Oaks and Santa Monica as well, which I agreed to as long as it was for a short period of time because at the time I did not drive. I kept telling my manager I could not make the commute but, nothing was changed and for the remainder of my time I had to just deal with it.
3. Toxic work environment. I heard from coworkers of the owner and former COO yelling at the nurses and manipulating the manager who quit about a month after I joined and was pretty new herself. There were also strange relations between upper management.
4. Because they always wanted to make a sale, services were sold at a lower price and facials were mostly bought on Groupon. This did impact how much tips were, which were quite low especially for the areas where the spas were located.
5. The skincare products used were drugstore or expired products. What more can I say.....
There are many more negative things I could say about working here in the short time I did but, I would then be writing a novel.
