The discount is nice, but it varies based on the cost of the vehicle to CarMax, so you have to really hunt. The nice part is that we could purchase wholesale vehicles for relatively cheap.

There is no guaranteed amount of "discount" because the amount you pay as an associate depends on the starting cost of the vehicle plus any reconditioning and misc. fees added to the cost. So, in some cases, your employee cost might end up being more than what a retail customer would pay.

Up to $3000 off cars on the lot, depending on how long they've been there. You also get discounts on wholesale cars that are going out to auction, so if you like classic cars that can be a great benefit.

You get a good discount after the cars been sitting on the lot for two weeks. Before that, laughable discount.

Discounts toward purchasing cars look good on paper but it's difficult to actually get the full value. Inventory moves around quickly and car must sit for long period before full employee discount becomes available.

You do get a pretty good discount on the cars and you can buy from the cars that normally go to auction so you can get some stuff pretty cheap.
