401K Plan

If you choose PERS 3, your "defined benefit" is roughly half of what the PERS 2 retirement plan is, while you can contribute up to 15% into a "defined contribution" plan, the equivalent of a 401K. In addition, there's a 457 option, which is tax-deferred, too, with a wide range of investments, but the management fees are high.
