Two options: PERS 2, which pays 2% of your highest 60 consecutive months times number of months of service (need only 5 years to be vested); and PERS 3, which pays 1% instead of 2%, takes 5 or 10 years to be vested (5 years if you're older) and allows you to self invest up to 15% tax-deferred, though you can't change the number once you set it, unless you change PERS-covered employers.
