Shadowing was kind of helpful

They have the “Huntington Bible” where you can access all the different recourse you use with the kids and find out how it can be used. Training is through that, shadowing another tutor, and tutoring a student while supervised.

They provide training on how to do the basics of the job and for some people they provide additional training such as SAT/ACT tutoring training and training on how to conduct and score academic assessments.

The training corporate Huntington provides is never ending, repetitive, and beyond boring.

It is all mostly fast pace computer-driven. You may follow 2 hours before you start supervised and by 4 hours you are solo. No additional training is offered. No continuing education for improvement or in-depth training. Non-academic teachers are released to work with students without enough supervision or specific skill training. Training is based only on Huntington-specific books, but a tutor for Huntington uses many different textbooks.

Best is that corporate office training department has many ongoing virtual training options and coaches.

Series of videos, not as hands-on

The training was actually my favorite part during my 3 months. You get to do online video training with other individuals all over the country that started during around the same time frame as you. Depending on your role and responsibilities, there are 3 tiers of training to go though. (3rd tier being management)(1st being teachers)

The training is extensive. They offer both on the job training and formal training from corporate.

Prepares you well for other jobs because of the intense work requirement
