Sick days are very flexible. As far as you communicate with your advisor, it should be easy to get sick days off.

We dont have a certain amount of sick days assigned to us, BUT in my experience, sick days can be taken when you are sick. There is usually a sub available to cover your schedule while you are out recovering. Our group of CF's (Communication Facilitators & Sign-language Interpreters) are always willing to help out and sub for a fellow employee if they themselves are available.

Great accrual rates...but you don't get paid for them once you terminate the position (unlike vacation time).
