New hires start with 2 weeks vacation, 3 weeks granted at 5 years of service

Recently increased new hires (right out of college) to 3 weeks

Recognition of previous experience for vacation allowance, when I joined. Good paid vacation time allowance plus 2 personal holidays per year.

typical us company, start with 2 wk then increases to 1 wk every 5 yrs. Shell had vacation purchase but stopped for 2025 onward.

Vacation and disability are separate buckets so no need to try and figure out if you have to choose between vacation or taking a sick day

I loved having separate vacation and sick time. Now that I only have PTO, I feel like I have to save it all in case I get sick. Plus Shell was much more generous than most companies about giving credit for years worked and not making you start over as a new hire with just a couple 2 or 3 weeks.
