Work From Home

A director level manager in the AMSG group put it this way: he expects to be able to find you in your cubicle whenever he wants to talk to you. I told him you can always reach me on the phone if you can't find me in the cubicle and his response is that being able to talk to you on the phone is not good enough for him because he doesn't know if you are on the beach or not. :-(

Company provide facility but not much

in my time there, we had Dell laptops we could take home and using an encryption mechanism, login to Synopsys' network to check the staus of and launch scripts from home.

depends on group, some groups don't ever show up even thou they are R&D and need to collborate on projects. However the field organizations is always required to be in their office/cubicle. Rather strangeand contrary to expectation! Some old timers need to go/retire, and make way of Silicon valley style way of work.
