How are we dealing with workplace crushes nowadays?
Just want to vent here: openAI is hiring chumps who have not even graduated from college. So hiring is not competence based or even school or degree based. Just frustrated with how they are conducting hiring.
Military seems to be the biggest scam in this country. Every other person I know in my area worked in the military for a couple of years and then either retired and collect pension or get a disability for a lifetime while having a full-time second job. How is that even legal and why did no one tell me that five years ago lol
Am I the only one who hate people who type “thank you” after a Teams meeting? So annoying
Fellow consultants — I have a shot at management but suspect a likeability gap is holding me back. I'm great one-on-one but struggle in group culture: I prefer owning projects solo, skip the lengthy "chew the fat" discussions, and have a hard time staying quiet when I see a better path. I notice senior leaders say less — I say more. How do you learn to play the game without losing yourself?
How do you compartmentalize work away from personal life and reduce stress? Starting to impact my personal life but need the work money to pay for the mortgage. And does work ever get easier? Like in your 40s? Director level has been a shit show.
By not acting on them
Debate it for a while because you’re a director and she’s a senior associate but she’s the one who asked to grab dinner and then drops she has a bf when you’re walking back so now I just wfh for a while….
Yeah probably!
Do not act on it. DO NOT ACT ON IT. There is an expression, that is beautiful in both its simplicity and accuracy. "Don't sh*t where you eat". If may seem like the best idea in the world, it might seem like it all makes sense, what could go wrong? You get to see them more often cause you work together! DO NOT DO IT. This has the highest chance out of any decision in your career to ruin your life. The ways it can be successful is 1. The ways this could easily and utterly implode and impact both work and home life is infinite.
aka don't get your bread and butter from the same place. Very good advice.
You don’t get honey where you get ur money.
I met all of my wives at work. As a powerful handsome servant leader the ladies are naturally attracted to me. We all remain good friends they understand my libido was always in overdrive and I needed newer models to satisfy my carnal desires.
That says it all! They were all long term relationships (obviously) and you now have a long term work (and all else) from home arrangement?
We still have feelings?
Yeah…we do.
By being in a situationship for months where we flirt with each other but no one ever makes a move until you find out the whole time he was seeing another girl so you just bury the feelings and are not as close for a few months and then you slowly become friends again with a small hope but knowing how it went down before…
That isn't what a situationship is lol
Shoot that shot… especially if it is mutually assured destruction of both lives…
If both single, be mature, talk about it if there’s something there and keep it private
Suffer in silence.
Slam it in a door.
By exercising restraint like a normal adult and not acting on every urge or temptation you have.
So many MDPs have met their spouses at work, they seem to be doing fine. We only get one life, I’d act.
Must be a big organisation then, with offices in every state? Not likely to run into the same crush twice?
I acted on it when I was in consulting days. Hoenstly best relationship I’ve been in it was cute. Do what you want as long as you are not hurting people
Get to know her as a business relationship first and if its mutual it will happen on its own.
This is why you are still an entry level employee at age 30+
Are you a child?? Seriously. "Work Crushes"? Why is this even a topic? If it does happen. Dont do anything. Its work, not tinder....
Unless you work at Tinder, or course. That could get technical!
Just don’t.
Whose the crush
Seems it might be my lucky day then.
There's no upside here, mate.
As someone who's ex-McKinsey, I didn't act on it and now regret it because now I'd be married to a CEO... If it's a totally different division/spike/interest group (whatever your firm's language is for expertise), tread lightly and feel it out. If it's same team...wait until someone quits. But if it's real...don't ignore it.
I think THEY dodged a bullet if the only reason why you regret it is because you would have been financially set by marrying them. Basing spousal interest on money is incredibly antiquated... Earn your own life, don't ride on the coat tails of others.
