Applied through Linkedin. A person from Talent Acquisition then interviewed me and claimed I had exactly the experience they were looking for. Next came a Zoom interview with the hiring manager who liked me and said that I had exactly the experience they were looking for. Then came the panel interrogation day: 4 separate Zoom meetings with colleagues and peers and the last one with the manager of all of them. The first three went very well with all three stating that I had exactly the experience they were looking for. So after three hours with the others it was time for the last one hour interview with the overall manager. This was an exercise in age discrimination. He said I had way more experience than the job requires, why would I want it? How would I get along with people with less than half my experience? And it got worse from there. I thought I overcame all those overt age discrimination questions but I was wrong. I got a generic rejection email shortly afterwards. I emailed the talent acquisition person for some feedback but he said "They went in a different direction". This was just an appalling experience. A complete waste of everyone's time. Even worse was the in your face age discrimination by the final manager. I can see the company has been through several transitions recently and many people were let go. It seems they did not let go of the ones who are focused more on a person's age as opposed to their experience. A disgrace.
