It clearly stated on my resume and cover letter that I hadn't worked in Accounting for several years seeing that was clearly my last job before becoming a stay-at-home mom. I was applying for an entry-level position that I was well qualified for but the HR interviewer was so fixated on my having not worked in Accounting for several years that her whole tone changed and you could hear the disappointment.
At that moment, I knew I was counted out. It was a discouraging experience because I had been upfront on my resume/cover letter and yet they still considered me for the position to have an interview. Had HR given my resume and cover letter the proper attention to notice the time gap due to my being a stay-at-home employee, they could've avoided wasting both our time with the interview.
