      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at AERCO in Aug 2015

      Interview

I had two calls, one with the hiring manager which I felt was a great interview and one with HR, which was not nearly as nice. When I had my phone interview with the respective hiring manager, who would have been my boss, I was asked a lot of specific training questions about my experience, and approaches. I felt as if the hiring manager was really genuine and open. He tried to get to know me and understand my experience and how they would apply to the positions role and responsibilities. He was also very open and responsive to any questions I asked. I really felt this would have been a great relationship. When I interviewed with the HR department after my first interview to schedule an in person interview they wanted to discuss salary first. I had to agree to a salary before HR would schedule the interview. I kept saying, why don't I just come in, I am open to discuss salary based on how the in-person interview goes. They kept insisting I agree to a salary before I come in for the face to face meeting. So, that's how it went. I never got the face to face because the HR representative would not schedule the interview without my agreeing to the salary first. I was making a little more than the position was offering. And for all they knew I could have taken them up on the lower salary as this was a relocation position for me, as well as a quality of life move (closer to home). But I was not going to flat out agree to a lower salary without meeting everyone in person. Also, the difference was so minimal, I could not believe that they were being this tight. That right there could have been the difference. Even if they matched my current, knowing that I was changing jobs for a better lifestyle, not asking for a bump in salary could have made me a lifetime employee. And from what I see online (this is almost a year later) they are still looking for someone.
