Human Resources Business Partner HRBP Interview

      Jun 23, 2025
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at AIG in Jun 2025

      Interview

There were two open HRBP positions and after speaking with the recruiter, she decided to put me forward for both roles. After asking for my availability for interviews with the hiring team, I did not hear back for almost a week and it was not until I followed up that she asked if I had availability for the next morning at 9:30am (this was for one of the roles). I met with the hiring manager who basically asked a bunch of behavioral based interviews "What is something you're proud of?" "Tell me about a time when you failed and what did you learn from that experience?" "What is a question I didn't ask you that you wish I did?" I then heard from the scheduler on the team to coordinate a meeting for the other HRBP position and she too asked if I had availability for the next day. Being that I work full-time, I had to rearrange things in my schedule but was flexible to accommodate. Later that day, I received an email from the recruiter advising that the hiring team for this role decided they wanted someone more senior so they were going to go ahead and cancel my interviews. It probably would have made sense to determine the team's feedback on my background before having me jump through hoops to rearrange my schedule. At this point, I was still in the running for the other HRBP position so the recruiter asked me for my thoughts and said she'd follow up once she heard back from the hiring manager. Over a week went by since the interview and I did not hear back until I received a generic "thanks but no thanks" email from their applicant tracking system. If this is how this company treats candidates during the interview process, I can only imagine what it's like to actually work here.
