A recruiter with whom I had already spoken contacted me for a position in the city where I live in Canada. My profile was ideal for the company as I had experience in BI but also in the domain of the contracting company. From the beginning I was very clear about my salary expectations and the recruiter made no objection.
Three interviews were organized in less than a week due to the urgency of the position which I understood perfectly but it is still difficult to find time with so little notice.
After the last interview I was selected and I was made an offer for $ 15,000 less than what was said on the first call! I said that this was unacceptable and that unless they improved the offer I would not even be willing to consider the position.
BTW the salary offered was for more according for a junior position when the job description and the conversation with the hiring manager was evident that a senior position was being sought.
Anyway, I received another call from the recruiter the next day, improving the offer for $ 5,000. I told him that this new offer was more reasonable and that I'll take the time to consider it but that it did not assure him anything. At that moment the recruiter's attitude changed completely. He was really rude and mad. Like I'm the one wasting his time.
I understand that these things can happen, but not being clear about the money available for the offer from the beginning made all of us (including myself) lose time. Also, the recruiter did not know French so he missed all the conversations with the hiring manager and his attitude on the last call was really humiliating for me.
This experience is a shame because I know people working at AKKA and they are really nice.
