I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Abnormal AI
Interview
Recruiter Screen, HM round, technical round, virtual onsite (3 more technical rounds). All were organized well, with timely communication after each round. Interviewers were knowledgeable and fair. Good focused questions that felt pertinent to the work, not just abstract LeetCode
So the first one was the HM round, where they described what the company does and how the day-to-day work for me will look like. Then on my introduction part, they asked how I have used AI in my day-to-day work and why I am switching.

Question 1
How did I use AI for my personal as well as professional work to better myself?
I applied online. I interviewed at Abnormal AI in May 2026
Interview
Recruiter screen followed by manager screen, then a coding exercise with AI assistant, then a take-home code review.
The recruiter seems like an honest and nice guy. Super upfront about the interview process and salary band.
The manager is bragging about how he wants 10x results from his team with the help of AI. He questioned my experience as if I don't know anything. Kept saying he didn't see the scope of my work, even though I explained the multi-team project I've led for a few quarters. Even asked me how many lines of code on a service I built.
I didn't even bother explaining any further since he already made his mind. I can also imagine how stressful it would be to work with him based on the bragging about 10x results. He even asked me why do I even applied to this job if I'm not a good fit.
I was excited about the role, but after talking with the manager, it is totally a waste of time interviewing there.
