      Recruiter Interview

      Dec 1, 2010
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Aerotek in Nov 2010

      Interview

I applied to a position listed as "Sales Management Trainee" online. About a week later, I received a phone call from the regional recruiter. She was extremely nice and after discussing the position we arranged a phone interview for the next day. The phone interview was standard questions, first question out of her mouth was "What do you know about Aerotek?" Luckily, I had studied up but that is not what I usually expect out of a phone interview. After that though, it was only the standard assessment of my experience and how those qualifications could apply to the position. She let me know that she would be moving me on to the next step of the interview process where I would meet 1:1 with an account manager at the location. I have read other reviews where this step is replaced with a panel interview however this office was extremely small so there was only 1 account manager to meet with. This portion of the interview is extremely behavioral based. I've been through enough interviews to have prepared answers for just about every behavioral question but it did help to review some of the standard questions online. At the end of the 1:1 interview, the AM said he would get back to me within the week. When the end of the week came and went, I called him the next Monday and left him a voicemail. When he didn't return my voicemail, I called the cell listed on his business card and he answered. He let me know he did want me to continue to the next step of the interview process which was the "half-day" shadow but that he wasn't sure of when yet since he did not know when everyone would be back in the office. He again said he would contact me by the end of the week but "if he didn't, to call him." I hated the waiting game but I had no choice really. He did end up contacting me and let me know the date of the shadow which was 2 WEEKS later. I went to the shadow, met all of the 4 other people that were currently working there, one of which mentioned that they had just hired two people and another one was starting next week so they were bringing a lot of people on and I had already known that they were short staffed. During the shadow, I met with the 2 people who had been there for some time while they went over the basics etc. I asked questions when I had them but I've never felt the need to fake questions. I guess I should have though because a few days later I received a call from the AM who said that they "decided to go in another direction because other candidates DID ask more questions." Sounded like some BS to me especially when a week after that I saw another posting for "Sales Management Trainee" for the same office. While everyone was nice and helpful, especially the regional recruiter who followed with me, I found the 4 week interview process irritating and frustrating.

The interview process was quick. Lasting around 15 minutes. There are several interviews that you will go through. They will do an initial interview with the director. Then you will get scheduled for a follow up. This is where you meet the other recruiters and account managers. They will walk you around the office and have you shadow some of the recruiters.
