Phone screen with the recruiter who was nice, and then a take-home which they give you four days to complete and expect a candidate to spend about eight hours on. Take home involved cleaning, interpreting and analysing the data sets. Four our five business questions to answer through the data analysis and to create a PPT for the business users and submit all the code for the techincal audience. I spent my entire weekend days and night working on the assignment. I enjoyed working on it and i think my recommendation to the business questions and my PPT was something that could have been used to actually present it to the business users (content, slides, visuals, formatting. I even created a theme and template :()
Two weeks later got an email from HR saying i did not meet their requirements. They could atleast pick up a phone and i would appreciate some feedback, given i spent so much time working on the take home. It was disappointing. I have worked with other technical companies in the bay area and got good feedback after each rounds.

Question 1
What metrics to analyse to answer some Business questions and recommendations
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Airbnb in Jan 2019
Interview
The first interview consisted of a 1:1 interview with a HR recruiter. The first round they ask you about your background and why you are interested in Airbnb.
The second interview was a case study, and you are asked the following;
You are the first data scientist to join a cross-functional Product and Operations team working to grow bookings in [Country]. The team asks you for help with the following:
1. What key metrics would you propose to monitor over time the success of the team's efforts in improving the guest host matching process and why? Clearly define your metric(s) and explain how each is computed.
2. What areas should we invest in to increase the number of successful bookings in Rio de Janeiro? What
segments are doing well and what could be improved? Propose 2-3 specific recommendations (business
initiatives and product changes) that could address these opportunities. Demonstrate rationale behind each recommendation AND prioritize your recommendations in order of their estimated impact.
Your assignment: Summarize your recommendations in response to the questions above in a 5-8 slide
presentation intended for the Head of Product and VP of Operations (who is not technical). Include an organized
appendix sharing the details of your work conducted for the Rio team, that would be useful for the data team to
understand your work.
The processs was very positive. I love the prompt communcation from HR, and they inform you of your status in the interview process.
