This is a role in Shanghai. Originally I understood there should be 4 levels. First was a simple HR interview, a case study round, a behavior round then VP round. HR round was simple and straightforward, case study was ok, you are given 3 topic to choose(2 out of 3) you don’t need to be nervous if you didn’t answer well the first question, the interviewer basically tells you what are they looking for from the case study, then the second one you will do much better. It’s not difficult after all, require very little understanding of business whatsoever, a lot more just their process and way of approaching things. Then the behavior round was the worst behavior interview I’ve ever had. It started with this lady introducing herself as “I used to work for xyz pharmaceutical company it’s big you must have heard of it” like how unconfident she is about her current company. We all know how a good interview feels like, it feels like a good conversation, you discover yourself with them, figuring out if it’s a good fit. This one was just the opposite of it. 1. It feels like you are being judged the entire time, instead of focusing on what part of you will bring value to the company, what would be difficult to work with. Feels like she’s digging holes for you the whole process and waiting for you to fall in. 2 it wasn’t behavior related at all. It was the HR round all over again! Feels like she has this long list of questions and she has to fill an hour slot so she keeps on asking the same questions again and again. I had to say “as I mentioned” literally 10 times. I feel this person does not understand how to get information at all, has to have the key words thrown in her face for her to know. 3 the way this interview was done was very patronizing, it feels very out of character of what i understood alphasights was. It was a real waste of time and I didn’t play the games she wanted me to play and of course I didn’t pass this around. Anyway, very unprofessional interview, i feel you should have more than one person as interviewers next time to represent the company.
