I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at AlphaSights (New York, NY) in Aug 2022
Interview
3 rounds, 1 hour each. Phone call with HR, Zoom with a manager, Zoom with VP.
HR call is straightforward, you'll talk about your background and what you know about the company and their BREAD process.
The Zoom call with a manager will be mostly centered around a case study. They will give you a client's needs and ask you to find someone for your client to talk to. Use Linkedin and find a C-suit person from a related industry to the question. Then you will walk through who you found and why you picked them. Finally, the interviewer will give you some "what if" type questions.
The call with a VP is more or less the HR call with more teeth. They will want you to be very clear on what you do in the day-to-day. Why you would be a good fit for this company. And what your 5-year plan is.
They seem to be hard set on making it very clear in no way does this job resemble a consulting job. It is a sales job. It is repetitive and not dynamic. If you want this job make it clear to them that you know it is a sales job with a lot of time spent on Linkedin messaging people who don't want to hear from you.
Three rounds - first round general competency, second round case study and phone call role play, third round an hour long competency and experience interview with a VP. Third round was a longer and more difficult version of first round. Second round involved one case study with access before, and the second case study was done on the spot.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Why client service rather than consulting, and what is the difference
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at AlphaSights
Interview
Coffee chat with Alphasights recruiter
One to one interview with recruiter - regular STAR questions, ended up asking about my proficiency in a third language I spoke even though that wasn't what I was recruited for
Interview with VP(?)
3-4 stages, last stage was really unexpected a far more intense behavioural and background interview, wasn't really given any materials from the company. However HR was super helpful whenever I reached out.
