I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at AlphaSights (New York, NY) in Nov 2023
Interview
I applied online and was then contacted by a recruiter who worked with my college. The first-round interview was very casual and straightforward- a lot of the questions are on here. The second-round interview is when things began to take a turn for the worse. The interviewer had poor internet connection and kept cutting out. I asked her to repeat the question, and she was visibly frustrated that I had asked her to repeat the question. The instructions for the case study said to only take 30 minutes. In the interview, I said what experts I would've liked to look into more if I had more time. The interviewer replied in a mocking manner that I had plenty of time to look into those experts. I said the instructions said 30 minutes and she scoffed. At the end when I was given the chance to ask questions, she responded with "What do you think" and I ended up answering my own questions. I don't want to say the entire experience was negative because they were timely in their responses and the guy I spoke to in the first round was very nice, but the second interviewer soured the experience.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Why alphasights, what do you know about the industry, why did you pick the experts for the case study, etc.
the first ai round was really easy. then the actaully first round was also Pretty easy first round. Asks you the basic questions. tell me about urself, what do you do at school etc.
I only attended the first interview. The HR manager was neither friendly nor unfriendly. It was just a normal screening interview. Only self-introduction and motivation for application were conducted in English, and the rest were conducted in Korean. The HR manager asked questions focusing on my background and history rather than understanding the job itself.
First round all behavioral. Mostly talking about previous experiences, how it applies to AlphaSights, and why AlphaSights is a fit role. Wasn't difficult, but unfortunately did don't get selected for some reason even though I thought it went very well.
