I recently interviewed for a PM position in USA and was disappointed with the experience. The interviewer was another Sr. PM in Europe office (Serbia I guess) seemed completely prepared to do get a free consultation. Instead of focusing on my qualifications and experiences, she seemed more interested in discussing the challenges and problems she was facing within the organization.
The interview felt more like a conversation where she was seeking my advice and expertise to solve her own issues within the organization. There was no attempt to ask me about my background, skills, or how they aligned with the role. The interview did not follow a structured format like STAR (Situation, Task, Action, Result), which is commonly used to assess a candidate's abilities.
It was clear that the hiring manager was using the interview as an opportunity to get free consulting rather than evaluating me as a potential candidate.
