I applied through college or university. I interviewed at Alvarez & Marsal (London, ON) in Sep 2015
Interview
I only got to the first round, but was generally pleasant. My interviewers genuinely were interested in my story and wanted to make sure I got myself across. Half of the interview was behavioural and the other half accounting technicals. Standard behaviourals, but the technicals were heavily geared towards restructuring which I hadn't had much experience with. Very friendly interview, but I don't think I could have prepared any better.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Tell me about yourself, what's the first thing we look for in regards to the three statements if a company comes to us and is distressed, what ratios would we look for etc.
A few rounds, retail specific / quick process with directors and a partner. Cases were typical e.g., profitability, market entry etc. The team seems very lean although growing a lot. I ended up not getting the offer/did not hear back from them though (assumed after some time).
1 hour phone screen. It was very challenging. Expect the unexpected. Questions were varied and diverse. Interviewer was very polite. Would interview again. Very competitive process. Lots of hard questions.
It was very difficult, they make you do a case with no time to prep prior the interview. They ask you many questions on it, some that take forever to calculate.
