I applied through a recruiter. The recruiter arranged an hour-long technical phone interview with an engineer. The interviewer asked for my introduction and a couple questions about problem-solving. Unfortunately, it was very difficult to understand the interviewer. I think he was an Asian guy and had difficulty speaking English. I could not understand him 80% of the time. I told him to let me think about solving the problem. But, he would start talking after 10 seconds. I know that he was trying to have a conversation about the thought process, but because I could not understand him, it just made the whole process more painful. The next day I got an email from the recruiter that they won't be moving forward with the interview process. I hope Amazon makes the recruitment process better by having interviewers who can properly talk and know when to stay quiet and not keep interrupting the candidate during the interview.
