I applied online, and was contacted shortly afterward for a coding test. This was conducted on the site HackerRank. The questions were very easy, for example I had to implement a binary search in whichever language I chose.
I was successful with the coding test, and invited interstate for in-person interviews. These interviews took place over a 4 hour period on one morning, 4 separate 1 hour interviews, each with a different interviewer. These interviewers asked a range of questions from technical questions about data structures and algorithms, to work experience questions (i.e. "have you ever been in a situation where X, and how did you deal with it").
They were deliberately vague, even when I asked clarifying questions. At one point I was asked "design a system that X", with no other prompting. I was quite unprepared for something this vague, and I struggled with exactly what I should do to "design" the system in that moment, even if the design of such a system was not very difficult. I would highly recommend preparing for a question such as this.
Furthermore, they will ask you for stories about your career. A lot of them. I found myself struggling to remember enough unique situations where I'd encountered and solved the issues that they asked about. I prepared for this by coming up with stories, but I underestimated just how many of such questions they'd ask. I ended up repeating the same story to different interviewers on a number of occasions.
After the interviews were over, I was contacted a number of weeks later informing me that I was not successful.
