      Operations Manager Interview

      Feb 9, 2016
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon in Jan 2016

      Interview

1st interview was with a HR representative. This was a 45 minute telephone number which was relatively straightforward. As long as you read up on the Amazon 14 leadership principle you should be OK. I passed this and was invited to a 2nd telephone interview with the Hiring Manager. 2 days prior to this interview I received an email from Amazon to say that the position had now been filled. I queried this with Amazon who said that they always recruit right up until a position is filled. I was given the opportunity to continue the application process and invited to look at similar roles. This I did and selected a similar role in a different UK city. From this point onward it was silent night! I chased my application many times via email and left voice mails with the only contact I had (HR). No reply to either emails or voice mails. A few weeks passed and I tried an email again, this time I was quickly sent an automated email reply to say that I was not suitable. I emailed back immediately asking them to explain their recruitment process to me as it seemed somewhat disorganised. No surprise they have just ignored the email. My only explanation for their incredible lack of professionalism is that they are either inept or HR are vastly understaffed. It is not particularly nice to be rejected for job applications but not having the common courtesy to reply to emails and/or speak to individuals when feedback is asked for is downright rude.

      Difficult interview

      Application

      Interview

Assessment, written assessment, four interviews. It was a simple but lengthy process. You will interview with four different individuals, not a panel. So be prepared for a few hours spending 30-40 minutes each. Even if you nail one two or three, if one interview doesn’t go as smooth it can cause you to not get an offer.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Three part questions, and what did you learn? Even if your example was spot on with the situation task action and result they still want you to provide an explanation of what you would do differently. Be prepared for this question after examples for every interviewer. They want details and exact data and numbers.
