Their process is dated. I cannot imagine a company that asks questions about Hadoop to a candidate in 2025. What's a bit more ridiculous is asking questions about Hadoop to a candidate that doesn't have any experience in Hadoop. I also have a hard time believing that the role would spend a lot of time working with customers that still use Hadoop. The process is designed to be gamed, if you want to study and game their process go ahead. However, it speaks to their quality of leadership when they are asking memorization based questions when we live in a society that is going to be driven by LLMs retrieving all the memorization we had to do before. They seem to be burning and churning candidates, I didn't apply, they reached out, I humored them to see what it was like and left disappointed to see how little the company seems to have changed in the last 5 years. I buy Amazon stock for their retail success, AWS seems to be falling behind.
