I applied for American Airlines back in June. The next day they sent me a talent assessment to fill out. I didn’t hear anything from them until Sep 6, when they sent me my video interview. The video interview was very easy and only took me about 10 minutes(and I was on vacation!!!!) Then, on October 18, I get an invitation to go to the one on one interview for the 24th! They fly you in and out of Dallas all in one day and it was seriously such a fun day. Dress to stand out a little! I wore a red shirt under my black jacket and another candidate who got a job offer wore a blue dress. STAND OUT BUT DONT BE OBNOXIOUS. As soon as we walked off the shuttle into the flight center, some of the applicants were sitting in the lobby and I joined them. Now, I know for a fact hat no one secret was sitting there watching us, but it was fun to get to know everyone before the day started. Finally, one of the recruiters came and got us and took us all into a room where tables were set up for each table to have 8 people. There were probably about 50 applicants in our room. First, we did a group activity where the people at the tables all had to come up with something we all had in common and then write down something that was unique to us. Then, we stood up in front of everyone and they had to guess who’s trait belonged to who. After this, we did group interviews. About 8-9 people were in the groups for the group interviews, so it wasn’t that large of a group. They asked us questions and had us stand up and tell our answers. Try to communicate yourself well, but don’t babble. Focus on customer service and safety. After this, we all went back into the first room and we were shown a presentation about American Airlines (pay, diversity, hubs, training, etc). Right after the presentation, the recruiters will be coming in and calling some people out for one on one interviews. BE YOURSELF. I made friends with a lot of people that day and got most of their numbers. Only 6-7 of us got a reach test, jumpseat test and pictures taken and those are only ones who the job. Good luck!!
