I applied online through the American Airlines website May 2017. I forgot that I had even applied by the time I heard back from them. I received an email saying I made it to the next step- the virtual interview. The only advice I can give is to research or watch YouTube videos on how to do/what to expect in a virtual interview. Read Glassdoor for what questions to expect. At this point, I can’t remember what was asked of me, but do remember that they give an allotted time for you to answer the question and that they will repeat the question twice for you. At the end, they ask you again if you are able to work in the U.S. and if you can abide by their strict tattoo/ hair policy. From there, they narrow down the candidates and finally in October 2017, I received an email stating I had made it to the next round - the in person interview! In the email, several dates were listed for the in-person interview and you just reply with your preference. They fly you out to DFW for free and you can even ask to be flown in the night before, but you will be responsible for paying for your own hotel. The interview started at 12:30PM and lasted until 4:30PM. I was told that about 53,000 people applied back in May and there were about 50 people in my group interview. Read previous Glassdoor reviews as they are mostly accurate. From the moment you step foot in the AA building, people are watching you. There are about 4 recruiters who walk around the room and take notes on how you act in a social setting. Upon arrival into the classroom, you sit in groups of about 5 or 6. You have time to chat and get to know each other, then you begin by playing an ice breaker. The ice breaker definitely helps relieve the tension, and allows you to get to know your fellow applicants. After the ice breaker, you take a little break for snacks/bathroom, and are taken to your group interview. There are 2 interviewers and one asks the questions, while the other takes notes. Everyone is asked the same 2 questions and the third question is selected at random. After the interview, you take another break and watch a presentation on the day of an AA Flight Attendant. There is a Q&A session afterwards. From there, the recruiters come back and you are each called one by one for a “one on one” interview.For me, it was just the recruiter walking me out and verifying she had my most up to date contact information. Several of my group applicants received an actual one-on-one interview in another room and even performed the reach test. It was explained to us that no fingerprints would be taken as there is a 180 day timeframe from when the fingerprints are taken to when training is started. Unfortunately for us, the next training session will be held in March. Within 2 weeks of the interview, you will receive an email with the results. I was not selected for the position. Of the 6 people in my small table group, only 1 was selected for the position. Overall, it was a great experience & practice for the future. Good Luck!
