So my process took a while to get going. I applied sometime in November, and got an email to do video interview, which I completed on 12/9/17. I then got a “congratulations”, to move onto a face to face in Dallas/Fort Worth, TX. I was able to choose from a selection of dates that fit my schedule, and I went in on 1/31/18. FACE TO FACE: So I went in scared, but confident. Just be yourself, honestly! Answer questions as you would anything else, but do some research on great ways to answer questions. I’ll explain why later.. This whole process was super laid back, I felt very comfortable, and what helped was chatting with some of the girls before anything even started. This is a people person job, so show that! Once I got comfortable with some of the ladies, just make connections and your nerves shoot way down, and now you’re just confident. We started by watching a video on the company. If you don’t know anything about AA before the interview (which I hope isn’t the case), PAY ATTENTION TO THE VIDEO!! One question could be based off the video, while in the group interview. After the video we played “who’s who”, which consisted of the people in your table, coming up with 3 things you share similarities with, and then something that is different. I honestly don’t think the answers matter, but give options, think outside the box. The hiring ladies are walking around taking notes on how you act, and what you’re doing. If you’re engaged, listening, giving input- acting as a team-, your answers aren’t what matters. You then stand in front of everyone with your group and give your name and say something on the paper. Again, I don’t think it matters who’s the main spokesperson, but when it’s your chance to speak, speak loud and proud, and SMILE!!! Seriously, always have a smile on your face, they are looking for friendly! From here we got a slight break, I’d recommend not using the restroom before the group interview, in the case you do get chosen at the end, you have to provide a urine sample for the drug test. A lot of girls couldn’t pee & had to wait and chug iced teas. We then got called from all over the room, and 6 of us went together to a group interview. I was nervous, who wasn’t, but looking back, it was very easy if you talk slowly, and be yourself. Questions will be posted below, but we were asked 3 questions, and again, it doesn’t matter the order, more what you say. Use the STAR format when answering your questions, and keep them as brief as possible, but juicy and full of information. I related a lot of characteristics I did, and how I made the person feel in my scenarios, something relating to a flight attendant. After the 3 questions, we were taken back to the room, and waited for the other groups to return as well. We got to talk to one lady there, ask her questions, etc. Following the group interview, we watched another video on perks you get with the flight attendant job. After that, the floor is open to questions, and it doesn’t matter if you have one or not, just listen to the other girls’ questions. We were then called 1 by 1 out the door, and in no particular order. First few girls called out I don’t believe got offers right away, and then I was called right away, but I ended up getting an offer. So I don’t think there’s a rhyme or reason, and you really don’t know who got offers right away. You eventually do, and there were about 9/19 girls who got offers that day. Some surprised me, and some that weren’t there also surprised me that I didn’t see them. So I really couldn’t tell you what they’re looking for. After they called your name though, you go the a room and go thru the process of finger printing, drug testing, paperwork, etc. I got my offer during my 1 on 1. A piece of advice I have... dress the part, seriously. That means hair up and in a low, beat bun. Skirt suit, matching colors (mine was black with a nice white blouse underneath), nylons, and black heels that were no more than 2” high. After you dress the part, smile, smile, SMILE! Be open and friendly, laugh/chuckle even if it’s not funny, just be a welcoming spirit from the moment you enter the training center. Overall, I had a great experience, and yes I was nervous as heck! But honestly, take deep breaths, have a few answers in the back of your mind, go with the flow, and you’ll do great! Good luck to all!!!
