      Senior Analyst Operations Interview

      Dec 6, 2020
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at American Airlines in Nov 2020

      Interview

Got a call from the hiring manager pretty quickly after applying, red flag number one. Red flag two, the position was only open for about a week before they closed it. He said they were trying to fill the position quickly, that's why I didn't hear from HR or a recruiter. I mentioned where I was lacking from the job requirements to which he answeed, "We put a lot in the description, don't wrry about it." Called for another interview the next week lasting 2 hours 45 minutes. Began with SQL interview, but it included SAP, which I mentioned I didn't have experience with in the prior phone call. After that, there was an hour interview with the hiring manager, there were supposed to be two others, and they didn't show up, red flag number three. Then he asked behavioral questions for an hour, and his boss came on the line for 10 minutes and pulled up my resume as we were talking, asked me some questions, then asked me my hobbies. The fact that we didn't discuss anything about the job was another red flag, then the next week, the hiring manager got back to me to say they went with someone internal. So, I feel my time was wasted because they knew who they wanted. I just wish three hours of my time not to mention the time spent preparing was not spent on a position that wasn't really available.
