      Senior PPC Analyst Interview

      Jun 29, 2018

      London, England
      No offer
      Negative experience

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at American Express (London, England) in Jun 2018

      Interview

I was contacted via LinkedIn by an Amex recruitment partner based in Poland. We had a brief chat via LinkedIn messenger and a quick phone interview was scheduled. These were general HR type questions alongside a quick discussion of my experience. A week or so later I was emailed and invited to a videoconference interview with a manager (I lived about 150 miles from London). This went well and I was invited to another interview with another manager around a week later. This went well, and I was told that if I got through to the next round, this was basically a formality and the job was essentially mine. About an hour later, I was invited to an in person interview in London with the same manager from my first videoconference. I was also told I would be meeting the director at this interview. The director did not attend the interview and the structure was a bit strange. Whilst I was given a skill based test, it was run very informally and I was not given a chance to answer the questions properly and it abruptly ended half way through. I also had a chat with a further manager I would work with and another senior manager whose position was not explained to me but was not the manager I expected to meet. At the end of this interview, I was promised I would hear by the end of the week and to email the manager directly if I had any questions. I did not hear by the end of the week so followed up the next Monday. This was ignored by both the manager and the recruiter. Eventually, I got a rejection a week later with a promise of feedback later. Overall, the process was good until the final stage for which expectations were not well managed. I did not feel the time I put into the process (2 days off work and a round trip costing over £100) was respected by Amex.
