      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at American Express in Feb 2022

      Interview

Applied in February 2022 and had the screening interview with HR. She indicated that she would put me through to the next round and then ghosted me. Seems like a recurring theme so I was not entirely surprised.

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at American Express (New York, NY) in Sep 2025

      Interview

A customary HR screener happened a month after I submitted my application. What followed over the following 2 months was a series of 5 attorney interviews, a written assignment, and a follow-up interview about the assignment. All interviews were virtual, 30-minutes long, and fully behavioral. The interviewers were interested in my experience, skills, and motivations; they were personable though rather formal; they also offered helpful insight into the role and Amex generally. The written assignment was short and straight-forward, though easy to overthink; I was given a weekend and a day to submit it. Unfortunately, it took two follow-ups over the course of the month after my last interview to receive the final decision.

Tell me about a time you had to manage numerous stakeholders with competing objectives under time pressure. How did you handle that?
