I applied online. I interviewed at American Express (Kuala Lumpur) in Mar 2023
Interview
By far the worst interview I had in my life. Got a call and as I was working during that time, we arranged a time for a phone conversation/screening. The first thing they asked was why I wanted to work for Amex, to which I truthfully said it's because I heard good feedbacks from close friends who are cardholders. The interviewer didn't believe me, do you know how I know that? Because he repeatedly told me so. In retrospect, I should have ended the conversation there and then after being accused of lying. He then asked me why I wanted to quit my current job, I thought about it long and hard, and decided honesty is the best policy, and confided in him the reason. Lo and behold! he told me that in Amex the situation is much worse compared to what I said. I then got so turned off that I couldn't wait to hang up after the "we will keep in touch" The recruiter represents the company, and I cannot imagine if this is the professionalism displayed, how it is actually working for Amex. 5 months later, I received an email stating after careful consideration, they will not proceed with my application. Thank the heavens! Do not contact me ever again.

Tell me a time you delt with an irrrate customer and how did you handle this.
Interviewers focus on whether my personality matches with the company values, and whether my ability can master the job. The interview is relatively casual though, instead of asking questions in one way, they constantly provide feedbacks, including credits and guidiance.

I am located in Hong Kong. If you work in a Cha Chaan Teng, do you think politeness is important?
Friendly and casual; hiring leader was friendly and interview questions were pretty casual. There was a small case study to gauge your problem solving skills and impromptu mock call session.
