      Graphic Designer Interview

      Jan 7, 2016
      Anonymous employee
      Cupertino, CA
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Apple (Cupertino, CA) in Dec 2015

      Interview

I applied for the job via their website. A month or two later a recruiter reached out to me asking if I was still interested. We scheduled a phone call which lasted approximately 30 minutes. She gave me the details of the position and background of the team and informed me that they were planning on filling the role very, very quickly despite the upcoming holiday (this was the first week of December). Following the call we scheduled an onsite interview that consisted of two group portfolio presentations. The groups were roughly 4-6 people each, some designers, and some marketers and project managers. After each presentation there was a low-pressure group discussion. Overall, despite my fears, everything felt very comfortable. Everyone was extremely kind, inviting, and easy to chat with. After the group interviews I met with the recruiter in person where we discussed timelines. She didn't expect to get feedback until after the holiday. Much to my surprise she contacted me a few days before Christmas to inform me that they loved me and wanted to move forward with a verbal offer. We chatted about salary expectations and she sent over the normal background check stuff. A day or two later she called me back with the details of the verbal offer. Because of the lack of 1:1's, I asked to have a phone call with my hiring manager to get to know him better. After Christmas we chatted for about 45 minutes on the phone about his management style, the team's goals, etc. By this time my background check had been completed. Two days later I received my official offer letter, accepted it, and scheduled my start date with the recruiter.
