I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Applebee's (Ithaca, NY) in Jan 2014
Interview
Short, quick and easy. They asked for some background and references. I was required to take one of those long 100 question personality surveys. They did not look into employment history but were very eager to hire despite lack of experience on my part. I was interviewed by two managers and then approved. Was then trained by a senior staff member for a week before being on my own.
I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Applebee's (Bensalem, PA) in Apr 2026
Interview
Brought in for multiple interviews. Given conflicting information on whether I had the job or not. Given run around on phone then finally never contacted again. Managers are 30+ minutes late for interviews. The hiring manager was the most unprofessional of them all.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Asked about previous work experience and why I felt I was best for the position.
This was a pretty easy interview process. I was asked if I had ever dealt with difficult people and to say what was my motivation for wanting to work at Applebees. It was overall very chill and I enjoyed it.
It was very simple, on the Applebee's web site, I selected a place and position. Answered about 5 mostly contact related questions and then selected a time for a 1st interview. I think they mostly wanted to see that I was early, dressed nicely (but I didn't wear a tie), and had a pleasant personality via a smile and firm handshake. I was called back for 2nd interview. I am currently waiting to hear back, but think I got the job.
