      Interview

The experience with an Aquent recruiter was one of the most unprofessional and hostile interactions ever encountered. From the beginning, the conversation was filled with unnecessary negativity and condescension. After sharing that the 2024 job market had been particularly difficult, unsolicited criticism was immediately offered regarding a personal portfolio—despite never requesting feedback. The recruiter harshly labeled the website a “walking red flag” and dismissed case studies as outdated, offering no constructive advice, only negativity. The hostility continued when questioning LinkedIn job roles, implying that certain titles were “suspicious” and insinuating that “anyone can create a startup in a janky garage and give themselves a manager title.” The recruiter’s tone remained combative throughout, creating an uncomfortable and discouraging atmosphere. Toward the end of the conversation, after expressing that the opportunity was not the right fit, the recruiter responded with an appallingly unprofessional remark: “Thanks for wasting my time.” No job seeker should ever be subjected to such disrespect, especially from a company that claims to support talent. This interaction was a complete waste of time and energy, leaving an overwhelmingly negative impression of Aquent’s hiring practices. If this is the standard of professionalism, it raises serious concerns about the company’s values and treatment of candidates.

Hi, this is Ro Pilla, President of Aquent Talent. Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding your recent interaction with one of our recruiters. I was concerned to read about your experience, and I sincerely apologize for the unprofessional treatment you described. This is certainly not the standard of service or respect we strive for at Aquent, and I am truly sorry that your experience fell so far short of our expectations. I appreciate you bringing this to our attention. Your feedback provides us with a valuable opportunity to learn and grow. I would be grateful for the opportunity to speak with you personally about your experience. Please feel free to contact me directly at ro@aquent.com / 323.370.6725.
