I recently attended an interview at Arcesium. To be honest, I did not know much about this company. Only heard about its association with D E Shaw. My interest in fin tech lead me to contact a recruiter and go for the interview. I attended the weekend drive and was pleasantly surprised by the well structured process and the effort taken to ensure we were comfortable. There was alot of food and snacks around. I had to wait for a while for my interview. Did not start on the given time but they kept us occupied by playing company videos. I attended two rounds

Interview
Interview process was initially smooth, but the candidate experience afterward was disappointing. After completing the interviews, I repeatedly reached out for feedback and status updates through email and phone calls. Unfortunately, I did not receive any response, and calls were not returned.
I understand that hiring teams can be busy and that not every candidate can be selected, but timely communication and basic closure are important. Even a brief update would have been appreciated. The lack of responsiveness left a negative impression of the overall hiring process.
I hope the company improves its candidate communication and feedback process in the future.

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Arcesium (Bengaluru) in Sep 2024
Interview
This was the first of 4 rounds of interviews. It was supposed to be a coding round focusing on the skills required for the role instead of leetcode problems or algorithmic puzzles.
Surprisingly , the interview questions were more focused on tricking the candidate with edge cases rather than evaluating practical understanding of JavaScript. These kind of "gotcha" questions often don't reflect real-world coding tasks or assess any ability to solve meaningful problems. This seemed to be an isolated interviewer problem though. Many tech companies are shifting towards interviews that focus on actual problem-solving and collaboration.
