      Digital Engineer Sophia Antipolis Interview

      Mar 8, 2015
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Arm

      Interview

The interview process is divided in two phases. After applying online (i have applied throw an employee referral), I have received after about one month a phone call. They asked me some questions about the company; they want to check at the first how much you know about Arm and ensure that you are really interested to become a member. In one week I received an email that I have passed the phone interview and I was invited to the Hq in Sophia Antipolis for the final interview. The final interview last about 7 hours ( from ten in the morning to five pm ) with one hour break for lunch ( offered my Arm). At the first you have to solve a written test where the main questions are related to basics of digital design, semiconductors and Vhdl. After that one Senior engineer at a time ask you to solve some tricky exercises and talk about your recents experiences.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Written test: - Questions on C and pointers with different types of Cast - Vhdl questions about sequential and combinatorial circuits - Semiconductor questions and layout of a not in cmos , latches and flops -Fourier and Laplace trasform Orals: -implement the body of the standard C function memcpy and explain why it returns a void* - they gave me a two line of a vhdl program and they asked me what is the difference ( basically they both do the same thing excepts the second does not reset the output in case of wrong condition) - They draw me a waveform of a sequential circuit( clock, input and output) and they asked me to draw the circuit that implement it. The circuit contains two flops and one or two logic gates. - They asked me what is clock gating and prove them why it consume less. - Some questions about MMU and real time OS The interview is really stressing because it last seven hours and every interviewer come one after the other.
