One of the strangest interview experiences I've ever had. After submitting an application, I received a message inviting me to schedule my first interview. The message was sent by their robotic assistant. I can't even call this AI, because it failed to answer all of my questions or connect me with a real human. It only provided 2 time slots for the interview that were pretty close to each other and didn't quite work for me. I was still excited about the role and changed my plans to make the interview happen. During that interview the QA Manager and the HR were very nice. I was asked some basic questions, related to basic QA concepts and testing approaches, as well as my overall experience and expectations. The HR promised me that all future interviews will be scheduled without the robotic assistant. All she told me about the future rounds is that in the next round I will meet a couple of people virtually, then the final round will be in person in their office. However, no human reached out to me after the first interview, and I had to schedule my next interview via the same robotic tool. I was not given any details except the duration of the interview and the names and job titles of 2 people who I was meeting with. I had no clue if it was going to be technical, behavioral or something else. It turned out to be technical, led by 2 QA Supervisors. One of them had his camera off the whole time. Though they were corporately polite, it felt from the start like they both would rather be somewhere else than interviewing me. The questions were mostly focused on API testing, textbook questions without any real life context. Whenever the question didn't imply a concrete answer (QA strategy and testing approaches), it still felt like my interviewers knew the one and only right response. Whenever I said something slightly different, I was asked to elaborate with an obvious skepticism in their voices and an attitude that felt like no matter what I say, I am wrong. I don't think I was failing those questions, and I stand by what I said. It felt like instead of learning about the candidate's logic and testing approach, they looked for someone who thinks exactly like them. Needless to say, there wasn't a match, and I knew right away that I'm not making it to the next round. Surprisingly, a couple of weeks later an actual human called me to confirm that instead of another robot. P.S. They actually read my CV, which was rather surprising in a good way. I feel like no-one does it anymore.
