      Product Manager Interview

      Jul 1, 2021
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Asana in Jun 2021

      Interview

The initial interview is a quick screen to see the fit. The second interview was with the Product Lead. I could sense that right off the bat, the Product Lead wasn't a people person. Their camera was off (even though it was a zoom call) and they were pretty monotone. To be honest, the entire intro felt scripted. We then hopped into 2 product questions which I thought were great! Sometimes companies can ask really peculiar questions but I could see (as a PM) why the questions they asked would help them identify the right candidate. One thing I didn't really enjoy was the way in which we worked through the product cases. Personally, I am a big fan of a collaborative product case. This helps the candidate and the interviewer understand how they will work with one another. At the end, they left room for questions and I asked away. The final part of the interview was my favorite. It really felt like the interviewer was finally being candid. Up until then, I didn't even think I wanted the job.

      Interview

Start with phone interview and then you have to do a presentation followed by 1:1 with key xfn stakeholders. Interviews are pretty standard PM rounds and the presentation is the most important -- spend a good chunk of time preparing for it -- if you nail that down, rest of the interviews become just about selling you on Asana.
